Fifth mobility activity in our Erasmus+ programme is complete

Dalija Dozet took part in the Erasmus mobility job shadowing programme for two weeks at the end of November, at the Dodeskaden organization in Marseilles. During her stay, Dalija took part in several meetings and work activities through which she gained, in a practical sense, a detailed insight into the layered work of the partner organization and its activities.

Dalija participated in Dodeskaden’s annual meeting, during which she presented the structure and work of Kinoklub Zagreb to the members of Dodeskaden, and in return learned details about the partner organization, its shared activities, and its ways of functioning. She spoke with team members about different approaches to archiving heritage as well as about possibilities for presenting films within the framework of independent cinemas. In several meetings, the association’s director, Julie Cazenave, explained the structure of the organization and the mechanisms for co-funding in France.

During her stay, Dalija took part in two community screenings, curated programs that Dodeskaden continuously organizes for young filmmakers. The program featured films from Dodeskaden’s archive, provided a very detailed overview and analysis of what would be shown, and included a small exhibition of materials about the program. After the screening, there was a discussion about the films.

Additionally, together with members of the association, Dalija participated on-site in a survey of the private archive of Mr. Bizon, during which preparations were made for the transport and further archiving of an extensive collection of films, photographs, and educational materials. Dodeskaden will store and enter these into their database over the next several months. During her stay, Dalija also presented films from Kinoklub Zagreb at a public screening and introduced the association’s activities. She answered questions from the interested audience about the organization’s way of working and the workshop system she and her colleagues conduct at Kinoklub Zagreb.

She also visited the association Polygone Étoilé in Marseille, whose 25 years of work have been based on continuously providing space for making, watching, and studying film. She was guided through the facilities and work program by the association’s director, Martine Derain. In an educational sense, Dalija participated in a two-day workshop on shooting and developing 16mm film both on location and in the organization’s laboratory. For the members of Dodeskaden and interested filmmakers, Dalija designed and led a two-day workshop titled “From Personal to Universal,” in which participants, through a series of examples and their own concepts, explored ways of approaching materials from personal archives and potential structures for future film narratives. The conclusion of this rich experience is a more detailed understanding of the structures and organization of cine-clubs in France, a focus on community programs, and the potential continuation of collaboration through various types of curated screenings and workshops for filmmakers and young audiences from Marseille and Zagreb in the future.
