Third mobility activity in our Erasmus+ programme is complete
Petra Belc Krnjaić has completed her mobility activity at the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam.

From May 19th until May 30th, our frequent collaborator, volunteer and heritage department coordinator Petra Belc Krnjaić took part in the third part of our Erasmus+ programme ''Cineclub Zagreb and Europe: the advancement of members' knowledge for the development of the association's future educational programs''. She spent 2 weeks job shadowing experts at the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam and gained invaluable experience, competences and knowledge.
During her time at the Museum, she immersed herself in archival research, analyzing films and materials to deepen her understanding of film preservation within an archival context. She gained insight into the organization and systematization of storing films in a film archive, as well as multiple segments of film preservation. By getting familiarized with the various collections existing in the Eye Filmmuseum, she learned more about different approaches in terms of collection management. Learning about heterogeneous materialities that can exist within a collection, she gained insight into the approach and assessment of different film collections and its artefacts. Communicating with the institution's curators, she gained insight into the strategies of programming films from a particular collection.
Furthermore, Belc Krnjaić attended the international conference taking place on 25th-28th May 2025. The conference was organized by the Eye Filmmuseum, the University of Amsterdam and the University of Utrecht, in collaboration with Colour in Film (Colour Group GB & HTW Berlin). The theme of the 10th Eye International Conference was ‘The Colour Fantastic Revisited: Across Global Histories, Theories, Aesthetics, and Archives’.
As a result of participating in the mobility, Belc Krnjaić gained valuable insight into the database systematisation of different items which might belong to the collection of the film museum. The database Eye film museum uses was tailor made for their purposes, and various categories they use opened up new possibilities for the upgrade of Kinoklub Zagreb archival system. Next to that, she gained increased knowledge in handling and systematising the incoming donations belonging mostly to private individuals thus forming private archives. she had also expanded her knowledge about the restoration and distribution process as well as promoting the projects the institution works on. During her two week stay at the Eye film museum, seeing it upclose from the inside, helped her to understand the complex structure of an institution which handles film (and considering such an institution does not exist in present-day Croatia, that means such knowledge is not possible to attain at home).

The evaluation of the mobility will take place at Kinoklub Zagreb, where Belc Krnjaić, along with other program participants, will present her research findings to an audience consisting of the Kinoklub Zagreb filmmaking community and the general public, who will serve as evaluators through feedback and discussion. The presentation will be shared with the Eye Filmmuseum, for their review and additional input. This ensures that both organisations are involved in assessing the outcomes of the mobility. Also the documentation and evaluation of the outcomes will be published online on our website to be accessed by the interested public as well as members of the organisation.
